Lake Travis Independent School District Background
Formed in 1981, the Lake Travis Independent School District educates thousands of children in a few different schools. In all, there are five elementary schools, two middle schools and a single high school. These schools include Bee Cave Elementary School, Lake Pointe Elementary School, Lake Travis Elementary School, Lakeway Elementary School, Serene Hills Elementary School, Hudson Bend Middle School, Lake Travis Middle School and Lake Travis High School.
The Lake Travis Independent School District is always looking to expand; with current plans to expand Lake Travis High School, Lake Travis Middle School and Hudson Bend Middle School. The district recently added Serene Hills Elementary School.
Lake Travis Independent School District Achievements
For five years running, the Lake Travis Independent School District has held the All State football championship among many other achievements. While Lake Travis itself has a school rating of Academically Acceptable by the Texas Education Agency Academic Excellence Indicator System, Bee Cave Elementary School, Lake Pointe Elementary School, Lakeway Elementary School and Lake Travis Middle School all have received Exemplary ratings.
The Texas Business and Education Coalition also named Lakeway Elementary School as part of its honor roll, and the same school along with Hudson Bend Middle School were marked as High Performing Public Schools in 2007.
The last five years seen an abundance of academic achievements for the schools of this district, with 2007 in particular being one to applaud. During this year, eight students from Lake Travis Independent School District were given commendations from the academic agencies while two other students from the Lake Travis high school were finalists for National Merit. Finally, four students from the high school were honored with the National Hispanic Scholarship.
