Location
Lakeway's location on the shores of one of the most beautiful lakes in Texas is the primary reason why this upscale town has a relaxed resort ambience that appeals to people of all ages and from all walks of life. The calm waters of Lake Travis are ideal for boating, fishing and swimming during the warm summer months. Surrounded by scenic Hill Country and infused with small-town charm, Lakeway is only a short drive west of the busy and vibrant Downtown Austin. It's truly the best of both worlds.
Views
Ten thousand acres of a natural preserve encircle the community's elegant homes and provide breathtaking views of the unique Central Texas landscape. Other homes face the manicured greens, terraced fairways and sparkling water obstacles on the golf course. In addition, Barton Creek meanders along the periphery of the development and contributes to the tranquility of the site. Come early and choose one of the available lots that best suits your preferences.
Golf
Golf club membership is optional for residents but a welcome benefit for many of the homeowners. The clubhouse is a central gathering place where individuals meet and mingle for golf games, tournaments, lessons, wine tastings, gourmet dining and family celebrations. Stop by the clubhouse anytime and ask for a tour of the facilities.
Tennis
The Austin Tennis Academy is located on the grounds of the development, just inside the West gate. This is a private club with the primary focus of developing talented young players into collegiate and nationally ranked stars. However, the staff also offers classes to beginners as young as five years old. Camp programs keep the youngsters busy and out of trouble during school breaks and in the summer. If you live in the community, your children can attend without the need for transportation to and from classes. Women can join the academy and take private lessons, clinics or participate in fitness classes that combine cardio-intensive tennis drills with Pilates classes. If you live here, you can get additional exercise by jogging or walking to the facility.
Trails
Miles of connected trails provide outdoor enthusiasts with a remarkable natural playground. The rolling hills rise above areas of flat terrain, which gives both casual walkers and more advanced hikers, the opportunity for a great workout right in their own backyard. If you bring a pair of binoculars with you, you might spot some of the native Texas wildlife including birds, rabbits and armadillos. It's fun to keep a notebook and log what you find on your adventures.
Security
Many people prefer to live in a gated community with restricted access. It gives them a feeling of security to know that strangers aren't allowed to drive around the neighborhoods. The homeowners rest a little easier realizing that their families and possessions are afforded a higher level of protection than they might obtain in other developments; these gates are guarded twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. There are two entrances into the community. Both are on Highway 71 on the east and west side of the Shops at the Galleria retail center.
Shopping
You can find the Shops at the Galleria on Highway 71 outside the West gate. This outdoor mall is the ultimate convenience for residents. In addition to restaurants, the stores provide the other necessities in life for you and your pets. Shops at the center include Lowe's, PetSmart, Marshall's, Best Buy and Old Navy. Across Highway 71 is the Hill Country Galleria, which is the area's largest shopping center. Here you will find food stores, department stores, restaurants, women's fashion stores, beauty parlors and spas, banks, a bookstore, a movie theatre and an emergency care facility. It's easy to find yourself popping in for a quick visit and staying for dinner and a movie. When you want to relax completely, make an appointment for a soothing massage and pedicure at the mall's spa.
Medical
The Lakeway Regional Medical Center is a 106-bed hospital offering services that include general medicine, emergency care, obstetrics, cardiology, urology, neurology, rehabilitation, plastic surgery, pain management and cancer treatment. If you're new to the area and need to find a physician, call the hospital for a list of the doctors accepting new patients. The center is located in Lakeway at 100 Medical Parkway, which is a short drive north of the development.
