Bee Cave Texas

The name Bee Cave originated from a group of early settlers who named it after finding a large cave filled with wild bees. Eventually in 1870 a post office was opened under the Bee Cave name followed by a trading post that was operated by Wiley Johnson in 1871. During the mid-1880s the Bee Cave community had about 20 residents, as well as a school, a church, a general store, a cotton gin, and a steam gristmill. In the early 1890s the population had briefly fallen to 10 residents, however it quickly came back up to a total of 54 residents by 1914.
