Hunting Spots Around Lakeway/Bee Cave

Hunting is a popular sport in Texas. As a resident in a brand new home built by Spanish Oaks, you will have convenient access to all that nature has to offer. But before heading out to enjoy a weekend at one of the many huntings spots around the Lakeway and Bee Cave area, it is important to be aware of certain rules and laws that are enforced by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department.

Texas Parks & Wildlife Department

The state of Texas has designated hunting seasons that vary by county and region. Both Lakeway and Bee Cave are located in Travis County, where a variety of animals can be caught. For example, white-tailed deer can be caught anywhere between November 3rd and January 20th.

Texas Parks and Wildlife

There are several rules that are worth making note of. While you hunt it is important to always have personal identification issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety on you. This is a requirement for all persons over the age of 17. For non-Texas residents, it is required to have similar documents that were issued by the equivalent agency in the person’s home state or country.

It is also important to be aware of the possession limit of all wildlife that is taken for personal consumption. This rule does not apply once the game is taken to your place of residence. There are also special documents that are necessary in the event of a transfer or importation of wildlife.

Texas Parks and Wildlife

The state of Texas also prohibits (it is a Class C misdemeanor) that a person intentionally wounds or kills a game animal or game bird without making efforts to retrieve the bird or animal and claim it as part of their daily bag. The same rule applies for fish that are killed but not consumed. It is a Class A misdemeanor to not retrieve and keep in edible condition more rare species, such as the pronghorn antelope, a whitetail deer, or a desert bighorn sheep.

When pursuing or retrieving any kind of game, it is also important to be aware that you can not cross the property line of another landowner’s property, even if the wildlife has fled there. This is considered trespassing by the provisions in the Penal Code and can subject you to being arrested.

It is also not acceptable to harass other hunters, anglers, or trappers. This can result in a hefty fine up to $2000 as well as jail time. Firearms should also never be discharged on or near any public roads.

Travis County has stricter laws when it comes to hunting than many of the surrounding areas in Texas. However, there are still many hunting spots that are located not too far from Lakeway and Bee Cave.
